So I’m never saying when I’ll be back again. For some reason that makes me never come back for, like, months.

But hey cool fact! Did you know the line separating “Wow I can’t believe how easy it is to make cute jewelry”

and “Guys I think I have a problem”

is actually really, really thin? (these were almost all made within the span of a couple weeks. If I didn’t keep running out of supplies, that would have been a couple days.)

My next post will be about a few easy ways to make really cute or interesting jewelry for those who either don’t know how, or those who could use some ideas!

This was a gift set for my mom. Sometimes it surprises me that as a gift she wants something I design, but hey I’m just glad she liked ‘em. The necklace was made with shrink plastic, but I wish I’d used something else to seal it, what I use doesn’t work so well. The tshirt was acrylic craft paint mixed with a tshirt paint medium. I loved making it, but next time I’m making a stamp for the seal.

Mini books~!

Yes, I recently came across a lucky half-price bookstore find called “How to Make Books” by Esther K. Smith of Purgatory Press. Never heard of them? Well, that’s fine, doesn’t matter if it was written by some unknown on a chat board from some dark basement,(although, granted, it would look less pretty) the knowledge is still sound! Along with tutorials for different bindings, interesting experiments, and publishing house ancedotes, this book also has a small section on instant books, which I’ve found is my most favorite section. I love the idea because the publishing is near instant; copy, cut, done. I’ve been using it to make mini books, which fit perfectly in my “locket”. I also plan to print some of my favorite writings to make 1” mini books-more on that later- and even a teeny tiny library. Point is, I love making these things. Plus, I can make microscopic notes in them. Bonus!

I’ll post some other stuff I’ve done in my oops! absense. Sorry about that. Talk to you later!

Made these last night in a fit of imsomnia. I actually was putting them off for a while, but after they came out so well and I got such comments today (I only wore one, both looks kind of like ears or something and I think that’s a bit weird for church) I’m glad I finally finished them.

They’re fake, of course, but I worked with some fake strawberries to make them look a little more real, and they came out really well. I love them, they’re so cute! Next, a banana, some kiwi slices, maybe a pinapple…

Ugh, finally I post this! The final versions of the clips that I showed you guys the charms for. I glued them to the clips that way so that either way wouldn’t end up with an upside-down charm. It made sense in my head, I guess.

I’ll be selling these at Mizumi-con, and I have a bunch of clips left over so I can make more that look like cookies or something I dunno.

Mizumi-con is coming at us faster that I thought possible, in almost two months! With that in mind and a fire lit under me I finally shrunk and sealed the charms for the hairclips. I bought ridiculously small hairclips to start with, so I made these extra small and cute. My favorite part is the dangling charms, like the fox in the second picture. I punched holes in them so that I could slip a jump ring through, and now the tails dangle. I made fox, cat, and red panda charms like these. However, now I’m worried they all may be too small to cover the clips on their own, so I’m going to try and find some thin ribbon to supplement them. I’ll post pics when I’m done, but I really wanted to show the charms!

(also ignore the two big things at the top those are for another project I’ll reveal later)

The inspiration for the project

When I saw the last image in this set pop up on Tumblr a while ago I believe my initial response was awe of the cuteness of the hairclip. I also wanted to make my own version, and finally I did, albeit a little different and with my own personal touch. (like the elephant at the end of the chain; I may change it later but for now it’s the best thing I could find) I like the accidental technique here, it looks kind of like a cookie! I may use it for something at Mizumi-con, and I’ll definitely use this technique later for something appropriately cute.

(by the way, does anyone know where this came from? I’d love to be able to give credit, but I couldn’t find a source)(nevermind it was at the bottom of the photo oops)

Two matching elastic rings made of flower buttons and two monkeys I got from different quarter machines. I just like how silly it looks, it ended up being two very simple rings, but I didn’t notice how good it would look until really recently.

For Mizumicon, though, I should probably use shorter lengths of elastic. They fit my fingers perfectly, but on my mom they were a little loose and her fingers aren’t even that much thinner. Maybe shave a good eighth- or quarter-inch off.

Also, I will never punch someone with these on. Can you imagine how painful that would turn out? The things extend a good inch from my hand!

Happy New Year!

Something I dashed to finish before the new year. I missed the deadline to post, baww. Anyway, I’ve had these iron-on pages forever and I nearly gummed up the printer with them and threw a fit but I managed to get fireworks printed and put onto a bandanna, my personal day-to-day accessory of choice.
